The evaluation

I think that the structure of my implementation plan is quite ok. I think the plan is possible to implement and easy to maintain. I thought I was familiar with Instagram so it would be pretty easy environment for me but I was wrong. I’ve never tried the professional version of Instagram before. During this course I learned to use it and I think it would be just perfect for my plan. I think it gives me a really good change to create something inspirational and professional. It’s nice to realize that I can always learn something new even with something I already know.

Instagram is very popular nowadays so it would reach a lot of people. My target group with this plan are pregnant families and families with a newborn baby. I think Instagram is just the right social media channel for them. It would be easy to create little fact sheets for the target group and share pictures from the hospital and the postnatal ward.

 

So I planned to use the professional version of Instagram which offers some marketing tools and statistics about the followers. That would help me to keep it going. It tells me what kind of posts are popular and how people find my posts. I think hashtags are playing important role with my implementation.

 

I have some experiences of Canva design tool and I think it’s just perfect with Instagram. It’s so easy to create really professional looking Ig-posts. Canva is something I needed…something simple and easy to use but still very high-quality. I planned to use both Canva and PicsArt but I realized soon that I don’t need PicsArt when I have Canva. Canva does it all.

 

As I work in hospital it’s really important to observe the duty of security. It would be easier if we didn’t need any written permissions to share pictures of our patients but of course we can’t do it. Written permissions are important with protecting the privacy of our patients. People have a right to change their mind afterwards. So if they want to think again sharing their own pics that’s ok. Still it’s always good to remember that when something is on the internet it might be still there even if we cancelled sharing something. As professionals our duty is to guide our customers with privacy policies and so on.

This course about social media as tool kit in work communities have been very good course. The most I learned was about the privacy and confidentiality in social media. I think my English is not very professional so sometimes the language made studying this course little bit difficult. I think that a Finnish course would give little bit more for me.

Planning an Instagram account

I'm planning to create an Instagram account for my workplace. Here's the plan I've made.


Name of the plan

Postnatal ward’s Instagram site for pregnant families and families with newborn baby.

Aim of the plan

The aim of my plan is to share information and knowledge about having and taking care of a newborn baby and breastfeeding. An Instagram account would give families also a change to peek into a hospital’s postnatal ward.

Target group

The implementation is planned to all families expecting baby and families with newborn baby. It’s planned especially to families living in Pirkanmaa hospital district but it is useful for families all around Finland. This implementation would be a good way to share professional information to families. People seek information from internet but they don’t always know which information is reliable. Hospital’s Ig account is reliable and all the information are research-based.

Becoming parents are usually exited and they want to know all about having a baby. During the short hospital stay they get a wealth of information and it’s hard to remember everything with a newborn baby. An Ig account would be a great way to share information with parents.

 Social media tools and services and how they are used

I choose to use the Canva design tool to create professional Instagram post templates and stories. I think Canva is easy and creative tool to work with Instagram. The free Canva version offer everything for this implementation. It’s easy to make high-quality logos and it has hudreds of different templates. It also offers some free pictures to use which is very good feature for this plan.

I also plan to use PicsArt photo editor app to edit the photos this account is using. PisArt good app for editing pictures and it’s also easy to use. It has plenty of tools and it’s easy to be creative with it. It’s mostly free to use and that’s important because hospital doesn’t have any extra money to use for this planned Ig account. Some of it’s functions are chargeable but we don’t need these functions.

Both Canva and PicsArt can be used by mobilephone. They both use cookies.

Hospital’s Instagram account will be public so we need to be very careful with all the pictures and information we share. If we share pictures about our customers and patients we always have to ask permission. Our hospital’s policy with social media is that if the patient is an adult verbal permission is sufficient. If we share picture of a newborn baby or any other child we need written permission from both of the baby’s parents. We are not allowed to collect any registers so we can’t retain the pictures we use.

Updating and maintenance

I have planned to maintain the Ig account with two of my colleagues. I think it would be easy to share posts few times per week if there is more than just one people doing it. We all have our daily jobs and this account will bring some extra work for us. Hospital gives us just few hours per month to work with this so most of the Ig work will be done among our daily hospital work.

This Ig account will be open and public and free to use. We are very excited to work with it and we are commited to update it at least on year. After that I think we continue if it succeeds.
